Jonas Wood
Jonas Wood (American, b. 1977) is a Contemporary artist whose style blends a range of influences and media, from collages, drawing, and photography to Pop Art and Cubism. Born in Boston, Wood earned a BA in psychology from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and an MFA from the University of Washington.
Working primarily from studies, sketches, and mock-ups, Wood paints portraits, interiors, and still lifes, utilizing distorted shapes and bright colors in compositions that merge figuration and abstraction. His works frequently feature geometric shapes set against monochrome backgrounds, showcasing the influence of artists like Henri Matisse, Alex Katz, and David Hockney.
The artist has held solo exhibitions in galleries across the United States, as well as group exhibitions around the globe, in countries such as Switzerland, Germany, England, and Japan.
He currently lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.
